Strange engine problems with my S2

Hi guys, new here and thought that i would run this one past you, Ive recently brought a 1995 S2 ABY engine, and have noticed that when the car is coming upto tempreture it goes like a bat out of hell, like it should do but when the car reaches about 80 degrees it slows down, pulls but nothing like it should do, could you diognose any faults, have any of you had same or simalar problems. any help will be much appreciated, very pleased with the car and loving the S2 experience. Dan

Try disconnecting the large multiplug from the water manifold (under the inlet manifold)

Read the codes with 1551 or vag-com or an led.

Don't thrash the car when cold!

hey here is a question! When you say cold you mean oil temperature or engine temperature?cause it can be freezing cold outside but you can still thrash the car if the oil temp is above 60degrees...right?

hi guys,i found out how much a new MAF is and its £340+VAT ive cleaned the MAF using IPA/moltisolve, and there was no differance, but alot of dirt came out, also ive dissconected the WGFV (well atleast i think it is, 4 pin large brown conector with rubber cover. looks like a large temp sender) I will try and plug it in the 1551 this week and see if it has any faults come up.Some more info though, When the car is warm,(coolent 80-90 degrees)and the ignition is cycled(i.e turned off left for a moment and then restarted) it dosent matter how long the car is now running but as soon as the turbo boosts for more that 30 seconds it decreaces in performance again dramaticley, Thanks for all your help so far, any further advise would be much apprecated, kind regards Daniel

ive got the same problem, mine boosts at 12psi then as soon as it hits 4.5krpm it cuts the boost back to 7psi from there on after at any range in the rpm it stays at 7psi, although it dosnt matter what tempriture my car is at! anyone got any ideas?

i was fortunate enough to have my car plugged in to the diag at audi today, there were various faults that i cleared but the one concerning the fault concered said ( Exceaded boost level) My mate told me that this means there is a fault in the engine somewhere and when the turbo boosts to a certain psi, and the the ecu sences that there is chance of a failure it put the engine in a safe mode and limits the amount of boost, I may be wrong but i would now say this is not tempreture related, (but could be a sender) And as i said earlyer, once the ignition is cycled, this allows the ecu to clear its status for that runtime and this is why the car feels back to normal again, therefore the cycle goes on an on, I have to get this sorted. Its driving me crazy . I cant have a Unperforming S2, i may be taken on by M3's and scooby's etc.makes me cringe cheers people

check all your hoses for boost leaks...

I had this a coupld of times (that fault code).

let me think... first of all, the cheapest test, there is a screw on ur wastgate, an allen key thingie, unscrew it a bit see if it helps.

If your fortunate enough to know someone with a pressure kit, pressure test the boost pipes

Clean your MAF connector with same stuff, IPA

If you know someone with s2, try their MAF

if all wlse fails, only drive it down hill with the wind.

                              hope this helps
