    suspect boost leak...again??

Over the past week ive been getting slight symptoms of a leak, engine holding back slightly when over 1.5bar, but some days it is fine, mihnea's advised me it may be sensing slight knock due to still using stock ex manifold. Anyway today got the 'limp home mode' savage cutout at 5k rpm, only once though, checked codes and got 1111, checked earth points on inlet manifold and are ok.
what else can cause this code?

I'm right there with you in sympathy Martin, mine has just started this too :-( When overboost comes on in an engine 'loaded' situation, the overboost protection cuts in shutting off power. I remember Mark H posting a little while back that he said the feeling was like hitting a brick wall. It certainly IS!! its like someone smacks you in the chest with a 2x4!

I was CONVINCED that my ribbed hose from the turbo was going to have a huge split in it like Tom's, but after ripping her apart today, I cannot find any split hoses at all????

I am still convinced that my problem is an air leak under load, either that or....... Doug suggested to me it might be the exhaust manfold gasket as his did this when the gasket was going, well I do have a slight blow from one of the front pots, so maybe this is my problem? I'm going to change some of the cheap breather hoses as they look tired and they will need doing soon. Then tackle the manifold gasket later.

Let us know how you get on!!

The overboost protection stuff is only caused by leaks, see what happened to Tom a short while ago... Check the throttle body hose, they often develop cracks underneath and inside so you can only see when you take it off the TB and very carefull inspect it...

The 1111 fault code could be due to me not correcting the checksum in your fuel chip Martin, don't worty about it, it's not your problem if the ground on the IM is ok. Plus we'll get it sorted next time if that's the problem. I'll try to have a look at what I had burnt for you the other day and check if the checksum is correct or not, if it isn't, we know where the problem is...

        Cheers,
