    Superchips treatment ?

Can anybody advise what this part is which has been disconnected and blanked off ? Is this the WGFV ?

    Superchips treatment

Also looks like my wastegate spring has been tightened ? Are these "Superchip" hallmarks ?

Peter, the fact your WGFV (Waste Gate Frequency Valve) has been disconnected means your ECU has been chipped (at least if you still get the right amount of boost).
This valve, operated by the ECU, is supposed to feed WG with boost, coming from the pressurized pipes of the inlet, the exact amount needed to keep boost as presetted on the ECU's map.
If only disconnencted, engine should work with a "safety" level of boost (something around 0.5 bar) only set by WG spring. This means that if any fault would occur (knock, too high loads and temperatures) your ECU want be able to lower boost, thus not being able to avoid a potentially dangerous problem.

Also your WG spring has had someone messing up with.

Since it seems from the pictures boost coming from the turbo feeds directly the WG, only way your car could run the right boost (unless there are some "bleeders" not visible on the piuctures) is by using a very stiff WG spring or a very tight spring preload.
ECU might even not have been chipped at all, just having made the mod to have the car run max boost all the time (which still has some dangerous drawbacks). Which, in the case, might also hide some unsolved problems that could have made the car run in "safety mode" (previously of the mod.).

I'll suggest you check your WG spring.

          What a mess !

Yes the WGFV has been bypassed and your ECU is not in control of boost as it has been bodged to a mechanical function of the tighter adjustable spring alone.

Want a proper chip upgrade in that car of yours ????

The WGFV isn't even electrically connected - all mechanical boost. It doesn't even have a hex head on the top WG (unless 3Bs have them?)

You'd be best to put it back to standard first, run it and see how well it is - then get Pauls Homefries. You'll probably need a standard spring and follow Pauls procedure to set up the spring as standard again - since you don't know what is in it or how tight it has been wound up.

mmmmm, nice work!!!! Get one of Pauls'/mihnea's asap.

The 3b does have a hex too, god knows where they sourced that one from...

              Cheers,
