  • Block dismantled - unknow item, help!

I was finishing off stipping the block down last night so i can leave it in to a machine shop in the morning.

When i removed the large oil pressure switch i found it was screwed into a 17mm adapter on the block. I then removed the adapter with a 17mm socket but when i look inside the hole there is something in there, it looks like its a torx style bolt head, but on the other hand it looks like some sort of a valve. I dont want to break it so can somebody tell what the f**k that thing is and how i get it out of there?

    Thanks,

    Mark.

P.S. Had a quick look in etka but cant find it

Yes that’s it, so it is a valve then, must be to regulate the oil flow to the crank bearings or something like that. So do i just stick a torx onto it and unscrew it ....and pray i don’t brake anything

Funny that, I just ordered a new one from Audi today for the block I'm building up. Its a one way valve.

              Great info Mark cheers

Not happy with the one i took out as its sticky, if i push the plunger in i have to give the unit a tap before it frees up and returns back closed. Guess thats another part to add to the build list

              Thanks for the help guys,

              Mark.
