Does anyone know if a 7a dizzy will work on a 3b.
only difference i can see is 7a has slightly wider rotor arm.

yes it will, just fit a 3B rotor from Bosch (NLA from Audi, they'll give you the wide rotor), the PN is written on it, should be 30-ish Euros... don't ask in £ as I have no clue

Yes you do, and glue the new one on with a bit of Loctite or even superglue so you're sure it doesn't come off!

Actually a number of the 200q 20v (3b) owners in the US have cut the wide tipped rotor down to the width of the narrow one using a file or rotary cut off tool and had success. There was a recent thread on the 200q20v list on audifans.com about the distributors, metal drive gears and whether the narrow distributor rotor was required initially because of the plastic drive gear.

Replacement Audi distributors SHOULD come with a metal drive gear. If you get one meant for the 7a (20v) motor and want to use it on the 3b, cut it down
