Time to Timebelt change... help on parts needed

    UPDATED

    Hi all
This is an issue that many owners got trouble a lot, usualy they got a good mechanic, or they are capable of doing themselfs the job, but dont know for sure the parts needed.
So maybe creating a list could be helpfull. I searched here but didnt find anyting complete.

Any help will be apreciated... :-)

I have ETKA software but due my lack in "portuguese-to-english-car-parts-translation" I couldnt manage to find all the part numbers for the rest of the items.
Plus I need to know if tere is any item worng/missing on list.

    - t-belt
    Toothed belt B 034 109 119 C

    - t-belt tensioner
    belt tensioning damper 054 109 479 A
    relay roler B 078 109 244 F

    - thermostat
    coolant thermostat B 069 112 113
    round seal N 901 368 02 (seal)
    water hose 8A0 121 109 B

    - water pump
    water pump with gasket B 034 121 004 B
    round seal + 035 121 043
    hexagonal headbolt + N 010 247 8 (x2)
    washer + 011 670 16 (x2)
    allan key head bolt N 014 717 2 (x1)

    - crank seal
    pn(?)

    - camshaft seal
    pn(?)

    - crankshaft
    hexagonal head bolt 034 105 229 A
    toothetd belt pulley 034 105 263 A
    allan key head bolt N014 726 3 (x4)

    - other belts
    ribbed v-belt B 034 903 137B 14,24x888mmm (Alterator belt)
    v-belt a/c B 034 260 849 12,5x912mm
    v-belt power steearing B 034 260 849 E 12,5x1030mm

    Coolant G12+

I got this list from some advices from rs2 owners, if you have more sugestions on what more to change, please be free to comment. Or if you have an rs2 and by any chance you have that list already, please send me

cant get certain about the correct PN of some parts on etka, regarding for example camshaft, crank etc...

names on list are equal to etka.

    thanx in advance.

My experience is with a 3B engine but I think the ADU will be the same.

Remember to buy some blue loctite. There are 3 bolts - I think they were used for one of the timing belt covers. Those 3 bolts tap all the way into the coolant channels in the motorblock.

If you forget to put blue loctite on the threads, they will leak and you will have to disassemble everything and start all over again. Guess how I found that out

How about the Timing Belt Drive/cog on the Crank pulley?. If it's like the other I5's it just bolts to the pulley. They tend to suffer stress cracks around the woodruff key slot after time. Worth putting a new one on whilst your in there for piece of mind.
I think the part is a round £25.

I'm not sure if these are correct for the RS2 but as a guide:

      034 105 229 A (?) = crank pulley bolt.
      034 105 263 A (?) = crank pulley.
      But do check before ordering!

Maybe the small hose that connects to the thermostat. It is a real pitty to replace this later.

Definitely agree with Eric B..there's a small hose that connects the coolant flange on the head to the turbo coolant line. This hose is perhaps 10cm? long, gets soft with age and mileage, and is typically near impossible to replace without removing the hydraulic pump, and the auxilliary radiator....It was a #$@$#@! to replace on my 200 3b wagons, and they have more working room than the S2/RS2.....

BTW, you DON'T want this hose to fail while you are driving the car ;-)

Part 4 the (belt tensioning damper), has anybody got a piccy of one? On my 94 ABY its just a cast lump of aluminium, no damper as such. I was going to say you dont need it but i'm curious if its a different part on later model aby and adus?

Get the pully part number 5, its not worth the risk of the old one failing.

UPDATE: I went on ETKA and found that partnumber does not correspond to that small hose number 30. At least for RS2 "water hose 8A0 121 109 B"
