What GT series turbo is best for the 400 mark but with drivability similar to the RS2 turbo, as when i get there im wanting something that will not be too laggy but go well once it is going, i will have a rebuilt bottom end so i want as much torque as i can get LOL.
GT2871R ... nothing else will give that ... but there is problems with the surge - it's too good for the cams and engines we have Search the archives for NorthEuropean guy putting the GT25/40R in the s2, there are also some lines regarded to rs2 GT2871R'ed
How does the GT2871 feel compare to the RS2 turbo on your car?
Why do you have this inflexion and then increaseagain in your boost curve after the overboost (around 3000 to 4000 rpm)?
Is it a maping issue or turbo
RS2 chip by mihnea,PKM short IM, forge dump valve, 3" custom stainless exhaust, 18"X8" Porsche 996 rims, conti contact 245/35 Front 225/40 Rear, QR sport top mount, Powerflex bushes, aloy sub frame bushes, neuspeed 19mm RARB,Hard tranny mount, V8 torsen on RS2
Yeah, I had a chat with Mihnea this afternoon - he reckons that it'll be a very good turbo, but can't see it hitting 400hp with the RS2 (K26) hotside; aparrently that would still be a limiting factor to it's power potential. But if I can live with not quite having 400hp it'll be quick, very torquey and of course bolt-on without any extra expense for fittings. Very attractive Mihnea hasn't ever seen on in the flesh or remapped one though.
But, I'd be short of my goal... decisions, decisions...

You'd have a nice quick car until you found the turbo you wanted, then just swap it and re-map it, then sell the other turbo

Do you think MRC will do a "2 for the price of 1" on remaps? Guess it can't be too hard to swap out a turbo either can it, if you have a little bit of mechanical inclination...
I am sure that KKK never officially produced an RS2 Comp turbo. I personally think that it was just a marketing ploy by some turbo company which was started about 10 years ago. However, I'm gonna email a good friend of mine who can comfirm this either way as he knows quite a few people at KKK in Germany
Given Borge-Warner now make the RS2 turbo. I suspect the true story will never be known. I have never read anything baring the US site link earlier in the thread to confirm it existed.
In addition I sourced an RS2 turbo via an insider in the U.K. KKK distributers and there was never a hint of an alternative for the RS2. I assure you if there had been he would have asked me which I wanted.
My guess is this was a 'parts bin situation' (i.e. what was availiable) or a US distributer marketing ploy.
At the end of the day the RS2 turbo is the best compromise.......as if !!
I've been runnig GT2871R in my RS2 for about a year, IMO it is better than RS2 in every aspect. Last dynoed figures are 440 Hp and 580Nm and steppping on gas with 2,8 krpm or more and boost is instant.

In truth - who cares about how this turbo is called - rs2 comp or K24 competition or 7200 competition - take the turbo apart and measure the compressor wheel diameter - if You've found it bigger than the original - then You can also know that the compressor cover doesn't stay original and have been mated! Can one place it in line with rs2 and call it the same turbo? No! Turbo response changes radically with these mods. That's my point of view.
