    Wide Open Throttle Fault

Has anyone come across this one before.....

My car refuses to go to W-O-T.

The Throttle Potentiometer Switch has been replaced and I still have the same problem.

Vag-Com shows that the throttle open to approx 98% trottle angle when fully open and the throttle position switches do not show W-O-T. (We assume that you need <100% to trigger W-O-T.)

The throttle adjustment looks correct as with full throttle the cable pulls the linkage right up to the throttle stop.

Does anyone out there know of anything else that can stop W-O-T being triggered, had three of us head scratching on Saturday.

    Cheers
    Jim

I assume you have pulled the fuses to reset any fault codes, yeah?

I had this problem - I kept adjusting the cable to try and get WOT back, and every time I started the car up, it remembered from last time where WOT was supposed to be. My boost would max at 1.2 and head rapidly downward. Then after adjusting throttle cable, it would only go to 1 bar, and still not hold boost, and so on.

Pulling the orange fuses (26/27?) reset the position sensor, and hey presto, 1.3 - 1.4 bar held to 5600rpm before heading down. Can't even remember if it actually gave a fault code or not, actually.

If you've not done that, definitely do it, I'd say - I was scratching my head for a while with that one after I bust my throttle body.

    No more.

Leon TDI 150 run in now.

    Very slow.

    Needs a chip.

Jim - I'm going to go thru all the diagnostic stuff this week. Couldn't get my brain round the whole thing on Saturday. It's very curious. I do suspect it might be related to the MFTS - There is a test you can do - I'll dig it out.

The throttle is deifinitely going all the way - but something is telling the ECU not to recognise full throttle when it should.

      Damn cars....

Its not the 100% which is the problem - its the lack of correct switching - you know the 01000 pattern in Group 3 or 4.

I'll bet on your car that you can see this WOT indication at full throttle - it never shows on Jims car... so it never goes into overboost

          I'll find it somehow...

          Cheers,
