    Cruise Control Problem (help)

    Hi

I have a problem with my cruise control.
All the wacum hoses under the hood is okay, and no leaks there.
I´ve bought a new (thing), the one that´s moving the throttle possition.
The old had a 2cm hole in it.

The problem is when I turn on my CC I hear a sound from the ECU on the passengers side. "Click Click Click". Like it turns on and off?!

Have checked the on off switches on the pedal stands, one seems to maybe it´s leaking very very little when closed.

What could be the problem ? Is there a fuse for the CC ? If so I can´t find it

Please help me, I have tried to search but I found nothing that could help me with my problem.

    Best Regards

When I told my mate who owns 2 Audi specialist garages (and was trained for 8 years at a VAG stealer) that I was planning to retro fit cruise control to my S2 he laughed and said the following....

'HAHA, we used to have loads of those in for repair and it was nearly always the ECU that was the problem. We used to take them out, kick them around the floor for 30 seconds and then refit them. Usually that fixed the problem'

I didn't ask him what was in the ECU that needed the shock treatment, as I was trying to convince him to fit my RS2 FARB for me (I know I know, but why bark yourself eh?).

If yours is clicking, then there is obviously something mechanical in there which would seem to get stuck. I cannot recommend the shock treatment, but I bet my mate is right....the annoying b4stard nearly always is

I have an intermittent speed-sensor which results in having intermittent cruise control. When the sensor doesn't work, the cruise control (and the onboard computer) stop functioning too.

The problem I have is that I haven't got a clue where this speed sensor is. Can someone enlighten me, please? Maybe this is the problem that Eriksson has too.....

      Cheers

Speed-sensor for the speedometer is on the left side of the gearbox next to the driveshaft flange. Maybe it's got a frayed/chaffed wire going to it. I'm inclined to think it could also be a dry solder joint or a cracked track on the instrument panels PCB. (Have seen a few guys on here that have had that, and also some of the coupe lads on audifans too)

The clicking is the relay switch inside the CC module

I had an intermittent problem with my CC which was fixed by replacing the CC module. I pulled the original out and tried to fix it, but ther's not much to look at. One small PCB with a small relay switch on it. I had no dry joints and the switch seemed to function OK. I just replaced the whole unit and my CC worked perfectly after that.

You could try and fix it, but I think in the end you'd be better off swapping it for a new unit. Around £250 if I remember correctly.

To get to it you need to take the glove box out and then lie on your back on the passenger seat. Its bolted onto the back of where your carbon/wood/leatherette dash panel goes. Its a pain in the **** to get out! BTDT
