I'sa happy bunny with this pressie!! I got myself one o them fangle RS2 coolers too today, so that's a bit of work for me to do over xmas, no.. maybe when I do the Samco's, yeah! sod it, aint taking that bumper off twice! aint that mad!!

Apness, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT it!!!! the costs of the RS2 crossmember are:

          RS2 crossmember: £792.83
          Painting: approx £100
Plus the RS2 intercooler! you won't see much change out of £1,200 :eek2:

put it out of your mind!!!

I 'happened' to be in the right place at the right time and got this prepainted cross member for a quarter of what just the part should be! and... it was in my cars colour too! it was meant to be....

You liar Martyn, just cos the wife is looking over your shoulder!! Good result tho mate. Unless you come across bargains like that then its not worth buying new! Old x members can be easily adapted to suit the larger IC. Good work Martyn. So does this mean its the start of your modifying fun?? LOL, come on get the boost turned up! You have caught the bug!

Jees Steve - you must be insane, or an eternal optimist !

After what happened your poor 3B - I'll ask you politely what those puppies cost next time I see you. I take it you have another engine to transplant them into...

Shall your old engine be donated to scientific research or start life as a boat anchor ?

I think I must be insane to be honest

I thought after my 'rod' experience, that a stronger bottom end would be the best way to go for future mods. I'm sure I really shouldn't need them with the RS2 turbo, if I keep boost to a sensible level! However, how long will it be before I want a larger turbo and more power is yet to be seen. (I'd give it 6 months max, before more is required to keep the grin factor going)

My old bottom end is likely to remain as a fixture in the garage until I can be bothered to move it. These 5 cyl blocks weigh a fair bit, even without internals. I'm going to inspect the replacement short engine next week, so fingers crossed it's a good un. If anyone has a decent short engine to sell shout now, before I spend my money at the breakers.

                              cheers Steve.
