    Just run a Lysholm Charger
Far more efficient and you get the best of both worlds
Positive displacement grunt off idle coupled with boost further up the rev range as they dont run out of steam like a Roots type

    K.I.S.S

Water cooled Charge cooler to keep the gas speed up and the intake length short
    Job done

Dont need a turbo if you do the job properly in the first place, Spec the Charger to the application for the job you want it to do.
Think about what you actually want to achieve before blindly pursuing the most complicated route possible

There may be a much simpler way

Yeah but where is the fun in that. Making life difficult is also what makes things that little bit more fun!!!!!!!

ANyway can you get the same top end grunt as a big turbo with a charger?????

i have often thought about putting a g60 supercharger on my mk2 golf td,main problem i can see is lack of space due to the injector pump, would churn out plenty of torque with 2 blowers on the go!!

In the most ludicrous show style application was Rick Dobberton's pro street car with two turbos, two blowers, and nitrous - and it sucked through a four barrel carb IIRC...

                Totally impractical departure!

Rootes type (GMC type) blowers are quite crude - not compressors but positive displacement pumps - so they create boost by physically forcing more charge at the engine than it can take in. Contrastingly your turbo compresses the charge as it passes through the cold side. Rootes style blowers consequently produce a lot of heat, so intercooling would be very desirable.

Using a compressor type supercharger would definitely be superior (Paxton or similar) - basically the same as a turbo cold side but engine driven (usually with some gearing to increase the speed!) - but it will still be creating a lot of heat and would still need intercooling.

Or perhaps a dash of nitrous to lower intake temps?

Or better still, running on methanol...
