    Cooler connections

    Hello

I'm going to install the same mocal cooler you've used and I'm having trouble with the fittings as i'm a bit rookie when it comes to this hose fittings/thread types stuff

The cooler came with 1/2" BSP connections, and i'm now wondering will the goodridge 90-degree -10 hose ends fit directly to these or do I need adaptors of some kind to the cooler end aswell

You need adapters. I assume the cooler has male fittings? You will need 1/2" BSP female to -10 JIC male adapters for the cooler.

You will also need M18 x 1.5 male to -10 male adapters to get the other end of your hoses to connect to the oil filter housing - I think you already have those?

        Thanks doug,

Yes I've already got the cooler, hoses, hose ends and the adapters for the oil filter housing end. The cooler has male connections.

Can JIC/UNF threads and BSP threads be fitted together in some common sizes?
IE. if the cooler had 5/8" BSP fittings would it fit directly to the JIC-10 hose ends, without any adapters? or do they always need adapters when fitted together?

I think you always need adapters between JIC and BSP - JIC has unique flared end that seals the joint.

Yes Doug is right you will need the adapters.

Sounds like you have most of the stuff you need, but just in case you haven't got them don't forget the sealing washers for the adapters to the oil filter housing....I used the Dowty bonded rubber type washers.

            Cheers,

            Mark.

              AC condensor.

My intercooler is too big to put that there. But you could get it to work if you mount the AN fittings underneath.

that is correct. I power washed it and then sprayed it with high temp paint. Should hold up. If not I have a couple of extra radiators around.

Is this figure and location for the original Audi oilcooler and Audi thermostat? Or the Mocal oilcooler and Mocal thermostat?

I know Mocal gave me these details for my 13 row cooler for my previous Astra Turbo (C20LET):
                    Daniel,
The standard oilstat that we offer starts opening at 74oC and is normally fully open by 84oC. It will be closed at 74oC.
Ideally oil temp should be @ 100oC. It will depend on what oil you are using but many modern oils will take temperatures of upto 140oC but this will shorten the oils useful life considerably.
                    Regards

In a later stage I ordered a different thermostat at Mocal that would open around the 92 degrees or so, to make warm up a bit better.

I have recently done this with a SEREK oil cooler, 19 row one too, fits just snug and it really does make a difference to the oil temp when having a bit of fun....
Cooler cost about £30 of the bay of theives and the pipes cost double that. ARGH

                          Thread back for more,

@Josh did you run your oil cooler with the fittings on the bottom and have no problems? like inefficiency?

Has any one used anything as large as a 23row with -12 fittings?
