The number crunching works on calculating the amount of air consumed by the engine at any given speed at boost setting. This essentially allows us to select the correct turbo for the application eg A stock K24 cannot flow as much air as an RS2 turbo. Analysing the compressor maps lets us see how efficient the chosen turbo would be for a given full-load profile... This then leads to calculations about the increases in air temperature and estimations about how they are reduced by an intercooler. Then we know how much air mass is entering the engine - allowing us to calculate how much fuel is needed for a given AFR... Enabling injector choices to be made.
Then there are some estimates for power at each engine speed (by a few schemes actually which I take an average estimate from). From power its easy to get torque figures... Then its just a matter of plotting the graph.
What you then have is an estimated output profile for a given set of inputs. I'm fairly confident about the accuracy of this tool based on what I've seen of stock and chipped, stroked S2 & RS2 applications.
I'd like to see your dyno plots with the boost profile at each engine speed. Do you have any idea about intake air temps seen on that run.
