    IC questions

I'm getting pretty serious about doing a 4cyl turbo project in my coupe (fireproof suit on ) i'm going for 4 cyl for various financial reasons and the fact it'll be easier to get rid of a 4cyl turbo engine in the future in this area. however, i'd like to stick with as many OEM parts as possible. to that end what would be your recomemndations for an IC? f

or the start i'll stick with 250 odd hp but we all know boost is addictive :mischeif: if i see things the way i think i do, the S2 IC is off to the side whereas the RS2 is up front on the fancy crossmember. given my modest output, which would be the better to go for?

thanks for the help (i'm very much a turbo noob!)

S2/RS2 are the same setup, it's just the size of the RS2 intercooler is larger.

4 cylinder will allow you a lot more room for a bigger than RS2 item.

Anybody got any measurements for the two IC's, I can only find photos and cant really tell how much bigger the RS2 item is?

And is the 3B unit the same as the ABY?

The RS2 IC is 100mm longer, IIRC.

and also lose alot of weight in the best spot to lose weight :mischeif:

with my relativly modest power goal, i don't see the need for an especially large IC, as rotoryboy asked, anyone know the useful limitsof the two items in question? i hope i can use them but i took a peek at things this weekend, the NA bumper is probably not my friend here. don't know how much room you guys have on an S2 but the crank pulley is maybe an inch behind the lower grille... a little tight back there!! this leads me to believe the ugly bumper surround that we have tucks up alot closer to the engine than your s2 items do. and given the relative crash integrity of an s2 bumper (not to mention cost) i don't think i'll go that route. i wonder if a well designed aftermarket 1.8t sidemount IC would work well in this application. another possiblility is that a friend of mine is willing to GIVE me an old 5000 turbo IC. free99 is pretty hard to beat

and one general turbo motor question: how do you plumb crankcase ventilation? or rather, how'd Audi do it? my friends usually run catch cans but they are open so they vent crankcase fumes directly into the atmosphere, i'd prefer not to do that. i'm certain that there is a way (or there wouldn't be production turbo cars right?) but i've not had a chance to look at a factory setup. pics would be great

Does anyone have the actual core size (width, height and depth) of the S2 and RS2 intercoolers? I can measure the S2 one myself if nobody has it to hand, but if someone can check the RS2.

                  Thanks
