Looks like more money to spend.
i changed the dreaded fuel filter on my avant recently and ever since the car seems to stutter occasionally and sometimes the engine dies when stationary. I have also noticed that when i floor the accelerator i can hear gurgling from the fuel pump. ive checked for leaks on the banjo fittings and all seems well, just wondering whether the new filter has put more strain on an already knackered fuel pump.

definetly check your breather, there was a conversation about this at the garage meet. If anything a new fuel filter should free things up since there isnt as much crap stuck in it.

Unless you have got a bit of an air lock somewhere??

Because i have the same symptoms, but my dont want to start at all now.
How do i do the Fuel filter change?

Found out it was the coilpack wiring in the end and the gurgling was due to an airlock.
Put a search in on fuel pump, theres plenty of info on it.
Have you checked for any blown fuses?

Yeah, i'm reading AndyP's fuel filter thread now (here).
All fuses in the box under the hood seems allright though.
But did you change all the coil's too? or just the coil wiring?

The breather is the tube that vents the air/fuel vapours out of the fuel tank. Normally, for emissions control it is routed to the inlet manifold, through the N80 valve and the carbon canister.
I had trouble with the fuel tank pressurising, so I removed my carbon canister and all the associated pipework. The fuel tank now vents through a tube and out the rear of the car.
The N80 is still plugged in, but is not plumbed in.

Ok, checked it, the fuse seem alright, but how about the red-wires in my fusebox?
Are they for the alarm i got? I know there use to be a loud stereo in there, but i tossed it out.

I have to undo the coilpack too, and see if there is any spark in the plugs. but kinda tricky when i'm alone
