Leaky coolant expansion tank?

Anyone had a tank that has leaked coolant through the seam? Do they start to perish with age?

Is it possible for the cooling system to over-pressurize?

Owen has just gone through the same problem.

I think the relief valve in the cap would open before it'd crack the bottle, unless the cap is duff and the valve stuck shut?
I'd go with the age thing though IMO.

It looks like a bit has leaked from the cap too. I'll get a new bottle.

Get a new cap as well, they are meant to have a pressure relief valve that releases at 1.2-1.5 bar, but they often stick. If the cap doesn't rattle the valve might be stuck.
