    Aux rad fans

Has this subject been discissed before? i didn't find anything on the forum. But i thought about the possibility of adding maybe one or two small electric fans? Would be easy to add a stat into the coolant pipes to control it electronically.

Problem is, one by one forum members are ditching the aux rad.

I would have thought you'd want to control the aux fan off the main rad fan? be easier i'd imagine.

there is that yes. but i was worried about using the same circuit drawing too much current. i found some thin 6" diameter electric fans that draw about 5 or 6 amps max.

you can set them up to maybe come on before the main one does.

Just an idea i had. be interested to see any pics of this done...if not i may take the plunge myself lol

to bring the operating temp down a little, we all know they run hot.

thought it might help with high output engines

if they didnt, why would they have two rads?

Mine doesn't. Tom's doesn't either, and that might tell you something.

i was tempted to get rid a while back when it started leaking, but ive left it in. i may well get shot of it if you guys dont think it would bring the temps up too much. Would certainly make space for a larger oil cooler

When I got my S2, there were no fins left in the aux rad. So I decided it wasn't doing much cooling, and removed it.

From what I have read on the forum, the UK barely gets hot enough to need the extra capacity that the aux rad provides. Abroad this is probably a different story

                            Ditto, too.

They run cooler without as you get more airflow over the engine.

Why not just set the main fan to come on at a lower temp then?

                              Cheers n
