Main Radiators are they the same throughout the range?

hi, a couple of nights ago my main radiator split, (shot water about a mtr out the front of the car!) i was wondering if the ones out of the v6 and 7a cars are the same? my car also has aircon so i dont know if that makes a difference!?!
while im at it, are the auxillary rads the same throughout the range aswell?
thinking of replacing both whilst i'm at it!

    cheers

Different engines can make a difference to the part number
A/C can make a difference to the part number
Sometimes when the car was built can also make a difference
The aux rad is the same part number for all S2's

so it makes a difference to the part number? does it make a difference to the actuall unit? guessing it does as the part number changes!

A rad from a V6 80/Coupe will defo not fit. There are hugely different.
I think the difference between part numbers of the 5 cylinder rad are different hose take-off locations on them.
You can get an OEM replacement (not the aftermarket Nissens rad which is pants) from GSF for around the £100 mark. Do a search on here under "rad" by either Fat Audi 80 (Steve) or Jamo.

what about a 2.2/2.3 10v? will one out of these fit?
a bit broke and dont want to break into my coilover fund!
found a brand new one out of a 2.2 10v and a fairly new one out of the 2.3! all good and cheap!

Steve, it's not worth ******* about trying to get one from another car to fit. If I was you I would just replace it with the correct genuine unit

true, although ive already taken one shortcut! exhaust was minced so i made a side exit out of s/s cost me less than £200 including parts (from downpipe back, and silencer is mild steel with a small amount of duralac!) gsf do a new one for £99 but i can get a fairly new one for a 2.2 10v for £25

You'll find it's not the best job in the world changing the rad, so to fit it and forget it is worth the £75 extra IMO

2 man job, did it in 3 hours in the snow when it was -2

took another hour to check for leaks and bleed the system.

Not that hard a job just had problems getting the old rad out!
