engine worries

Hi All,

Ive got this issue with my motor that i notice more often. Its when I hammer the crap out of it for over 10 mintues straight. Then when I stop, i hear it tapping/knocking.

seems to come from the top of the engine.. no idea what it is. I leave it to cool and its fine.

I have give it some nps without this issue, its when i give it some for more than 10 mins straight.

Any idea's? 200k

tappets getting fooked, think there £10 each - 20 of em

easy ish job, take cams out, slide old ones out/slide new ones in

while your doing tho might be an idea as well to do stem seals, guides etc

by the way your engine isnt fooked, so you dont need to do anything straight away

It's your hydraulic lifters. Check your oil level, if it's low top it up. If not, it's likely to be their age and condition.

There's a couple of places that can supply them for about £6 a piece. From memory, GSF, Euro Car Parts or GPC

sounds like its just 1.

Am I ok to leave it as it is and bear with the noise? or is this damaging my engine? IM planning on a engine rebuild within a year..

Be very careful, this is a classic sign of low oil levels. If you regularly check your oil then ignore me. If not, make sure you have enough oil in the sump otherwise you WILL damage the engine...

Edited to add, if you have got oil in your engine and can put up the the noise a dodgy tappet / lifter ( ) will not damage the engine...

Had similar with an injector complaining to phook after hard work. Car ran ok but idled like crap. Took them off and cleaned them and it's fine for now.

had mine cleaned about half a yr ago, so should be fine i would of thought...
