    centre housing
    compressor housing (.63ar)
    compressor wheel
    spindle

Hopefully, this is not a ridiculous question

Alistair, I'm afraid it is a bit of a rediculous question as turbo charger's are very delicate items which require a great deal of knowledge to build in terms of selecting the right comp wheel and shaft etc. Not only that, but it will need to be balanced on a machine to extremely tight tolerances. This is one part that you must leave to the experts to sort out for you

Why wouldn't just buy the GT2871r Turbo made up already with the K26 hotside?

034 and ATP turbos sell this config.

Alistair - I thought I was buying an 'out of the box' super-S2 that I'd never want/need to upgrade as well... I guess 300bhp isn't enough Here's a few comments on what I've found in my research:

Stock rods - safe for 525NM, after this you're really risking failure. HP, they're ok for ~420. Note, though the RS2 turbo is 'only' good for 370-380hp, it'll deliver rod-bending torque IRO 600NM. But it can be mapped conservatively to avoid such as disaster...

I believe a new fuel pump is in order, I'm using a Bosch 044 Motorsport which seems to be the popular choice. Not sure what the stock pump is good too.

Injectors, RS2 EM, RS2 IC, all good for your power range.

Cam is recommended, I understand the extra advance allows the engine to be mapped much more aggressively; I'm sure a search will turn up some info. Popular is the 7A Exhaust cam (again, what I have) though some have both cams changed.

You've not mentioned the Exhaust + clutch. Are you planning on any upgrades there?? The stock exhaust will be a major restriction; stock clutch will be OK but if it's worn already you might want to replace it with something designed for the extra power.

          cheers
          Ross
I've been told the RS2 turbo can be mapped too 700nm torque but it wont last long

Standard fuel pump and ABY injectors have been used too 300-320 bhp.

Personally i'm not taking the risk i've sourced a 044 bosch fuel pump and on the long term look out for injectors.

Clutch is doing my head in, most are 3B clutches and mean the removal of the dual mass from the ABY (this will be required anyhow for high torque upgrades).

Watching Aelreds thread with interest for ABY/ADU clutchnet applications.

At the moment i'm getting my brain round cylinder head upgrades, Inconel valves and light weight lifters

The reason for the post in the first place was after looking at the 034 site and the $1200+ price tag. I also remember seeing Paul N posting a thread that he was building his own turbo. I suppose that I presumed, obviously incorrectly, that you would be able to bolt the various bits together. I did have an idea that balancing may be a problem, but wasn't sure.
Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and spend a lot of money.

            Thanks

            Alistair

The problem is that the Garrett ball bearing sections are rather expensive $1200 is not too bad a price as it's probably cheaper than a new RS2 unit.

You could ask a company like AET if you got the bits if they could build and balance the unit but i don't know if it would work out cost effective as i don't know anybody that has done such a project.

What would happen if u bolted on the RS2 turbo and thats it with a remapp? i read somewhere a while ago that mrc were monitoring someone that had done this does anyone know the results? What bhp and torque would u get with just the turbo and possible injectors and fuel pump being upgraded?
3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips (just need the RS2 Airbox)
