    Injector Questions (S2, RS2 etc.)

    Hello all, injector based questions below. Any help greatfully received as ever.

    What are the standard S2 injector and RS2 injector part numbers please?

    What are the standard flow rates of the above injectors and what 'colour' are they (RS2 = green?)?

    Am I correct in thinking that the standard S2 injectors can handle all that a K24 can throw at them (circa 300bhp) and that RS2 ones are ok for up to 380-400bhp ( and therefore GT2871 or GT3071 also)? Does the RS2 run a higher FPR than 4bar?

    Are there any other injectors from the Cosworth or dare I say it Jap side of tuning that are suitable? Colours or flow rates please.

    I assume that if I plug RS2 injectors into a completely standard car then it should just adjust injector pulse due to a rich reading from the lambada sensor? Will they be beneficial when I get it remapped?

      Injectors cannot be swopped like you mention, the car will run very rich like a diesel.
      Needs some programming on the chip done.

      4 Bar is ok for Green tops.
      On the limit Green tops will give you up to 440hp, you can always push the fuel pressure up therafter.

      Bosch green tops are rated at 420cc.
      A GT3071 can be pushed to 500hp with suitable Rods, i suggest bigger injectors such as 550cc injectors if you want to go that far.

          Upping the fuel pressure to increase the fuel flow will only make a small difference as an Injector can only flow so much. If you double the fuel pressure you will not double the fuel flow rate, simple as that

          Unfortunately many people seem to think that upping the fuel pressure will automatically give them the extra fuel that they will need. However there soon comes a point whereby more fuel pressure makes no difference whatsoever to fuel flow rates

              Some good rules of thumb here -

              For every 100bhp you wanna make, then you need a fuel injector capable of delivering 100cc of fuel per minute (cc/min is a common flow unit though many aftermarket shops work in lbs/min). Such flow units are almost invariably quoted at a reference fuel pressure of 3bar (43.5psi) so you do have to convert for the fuel pressure on your intended system with the nominal 4bar on ABY/AAN.

              The conversion is simple enough from the formula (from memory) of -

              sqrt(Pref) / sqrt(Psys) = sqrt(Fref) / sqrt(Fsys)

              For each 100cc/min always reckon on a maximum injector duty cycle of 80%.

              Essentially, yes the stock ABY/AAN injector is good enough for any K24 application, but for RS2 turbo you will need RS2 (aka Bosch green) injectors.

              I'll be writing this stuff up in much more detail in the next edition of 'Turbology' - coming to a website near you soon

                  From S2central.net -

                  Fuel Injector Part Numbers
                  3B = 034.906.031
                  ABY = 034.906.031 B
                  RS2 = 034.906.031 F
