Yesterday my oil warning light came on out of the blue aftere driving for a couple of hours. I continued on my journey, as I didn't have far to go. Today when I came to use it again, I checked the oil level and whilst in the car pressure seems OK (4.5+bar and 2bar at idle) when up to temperature. On my way home I noticed that the warning only came on when I hit 3k rpm. I tested this several times and it's like clockwork. I've searched the forum and discovered that the warning cannot be due to oil level, as there's no sensor for this, so could this be my oil pump on its way out? I've read that there's two pressure sensors here, but it says that the difference is 2k rpm. Could this be the same thing, but mine is set to 3k rpm somehow? I'm hoping it's a sensor that's the problem and not something more serious like the head gasket!
It's going to MRC next Friday, so they can sort out the problem long term, but will I do any damage if I continue to use it until then?
