Twin Turbo

Hey guys

Anyone ever done this to an S2?

Was thinking along the lines of the new BMW setup with a small turbo that boosts in quickly with a bigger one to take up the anti further up the rev range.

Any ideas???

Has been tried, yes. I think the weight and complexity of another turbo is not good unless going for serious power increase.

Looking to hit the 600 Mark with my project car and from the looks of things I need to get my head under the bonnet of a BMW or an RX7 just to look at how things are done. Alternativley supercharging the bottom end?

But I will have to investigate further. Been through the threads and none seem to draw any conclusions as to wether this works properly or not although the EM that was made looks the part.

Most RX7 twin turbo big bhp upgrades include replacing the twin turbos with a single turbo! A friend of mine has one and he tells me the system is very complex for the turbos, although other parts are simple.

IIRC it was Ozzzt that was running a twin turbo set up. His engine went to someone else after he went (RIP). Look through some of his treads

Rotory: Yep + he had a photos of twin turbo exhaust manifold that he completed!!!

Basicly in the end it only required 2 K24 and a proper ECU menegment.

yeah, ive seen that merc in a few years back.
But nowdays it's a Twinturbo'd Ur-quattro spinning aroud @ ES-tuning in Trondheim, Norway.
I dont have any facts on it, but rumors whistle something about ~500 horsepower and torque from hell and up.

Ozzzt(RIP ) never run with the TT setup, just mounted it up for a test when he had taken his ex manifold off for repair.
ES Tuning who made the setup later tested a tt setup in an UR. Running 2 K24, and plans where laid for testing 2 RS2 turbo's, but not sure if it was tested. Did move OK with 24's

His S2 wasn't used with twin turbos, just fitted for photos.
Ozzzt was sadly killed in a traffic accident in 2004. He was driving a company car when he was hit(overrun) by a trailer that had lost its steering. A dutch tourist had hit the front wheel of the trailer and ruined the steering. Ozzzt was totally innocent in the accident and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Still miss him a lot......
