    044 fitting problem

I thought fitting a bosch 044 fuel pump to coupe would be bolt on with the parts mentioned on many threads.
I found out that it isn't. Couldn't find any howtos or pics about the issue so I have to ask.

The problem is that the "model H" 60mm pump mount has some kind of bleed channel with mesh that makes it unpossible to insert the pump from the top. There is also only about 3cm of the wider part at the bottom where the pump fits.

So what should I do? Cut out the meshed bleed thingy and make the hole a bit larger to be able to fit the pump from the top?

The 044 pump has that wider part that doesn't fit in the mount... so?

The strainer part fits the mount perfectly. I also have the banjo and the dome nut but they're not shown.

Please copy-paste the addresses as the server doesn't allow referers.

You need to break the housing to allow the pump to slide in all the way. It sounds like a bodge but that is how they are fitted.

Doug mentions it in his thread 044 Pump Fitting

Chop that mesh part off. Then cut some vertical slots in the top part (arrowed), so the pump can be pushed in from the top. You need to get the pump to go as low as the original. I then held mine in place by putting a cable tie around the top.

          Found it.
Basically the same as Doug shows.
