    Oil pressure sensor - S2 or RS2

    Hi freaks!

So, on my S2 have a leak of oil on the pressure oil sensor!

With a lot of work, I puted it out!!!

There aren´t any kind of o-ring, shoud it have???
The sensor have 2 parts: one is the sensor and the other is the adapter!

I´m not sure were is my leak, I hope that´s on the adapter and the motor block!

So... Both were really fasted... and.. without any kind of o-ring, just a metal disk to fast them!

Any one have already this kind of problem?
See on the fotos below my sensor... shoud it have a leak on the center???

    Should I buy o-rings?

Why get I leak on thiese surfaces??? They looks like very well!

          hi

this adpater i haven´t seen yet. i also cannot remember to have this adapter. my other ABY-Engine in the garage hasn´t also such an adapter, only the sensor, and this is fitted in the engine-block.

i definetely know that there is also no O-Ring. There is always the small metal-disk under the sensor, means between sensor and block. in your case, there should be 2 metaldisks. one between the sensor and the adapter and one between the adapter and the block.

what about your other bigger oilpressure-sensor? which is there screwed in?

some pix from the engine at this place? this would be fine.

          nice day

          wolfgang

EDIT: i´ve just looked again at your pictures, it seems that the metal-disk between adapter and sensor is missing. i think that this is the problem. the metal-disk between adapter and block looks quite in good condition.

My 94 ABY engine has an adapter the same as that. No rubber o-rings just the metal washers between the adapter and head. All looks the same.

I think the oil leak comes from the plastic part of the sensor if its cracked.

The adaptor holds in a valve in the block. Can't remember what it is for though. I'm sure there was a post about it on here ages ago.

The switch is leaking by the look of it. They are common failure points on all VAG cars that use the same switch.

I had a similar problem with mine when the whole top of the switch came off at 140mph. Made a right mess of the engine bay (the smoke coming out the back looked great though )

                      So...
I am sure that the adapter is a genuine audi part as the sensor! I saw at the Audi part catalog.

What I made is to put pressured air on the sensor... and for my surprise I found the leak!
It is on the plastic part on the sensor... direct on the plug!
So, I will buy a new one.. and put it again....

                      Thanks all...
Later, I will post here a picture of the motor block!

Thuppu has previously told us that Kate 7.3 says Adapter 034103179 (Item 26 below) has been replaced from December 2008 with Adapter 074103179. More info about the pressure switches and pressure senders AND the check valve in the block is available here: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/96161.phtml
