Ford/Mazda/Ranger 2.3 Duratec and SHO Engines

I have a question for you Audi guys out their. What do you guys know about the Duratec 2.3 engine and the SHO engine from Ford? And base on your answer what do thing of dropping one of these engines in an Audi Coupe Quattro. I know its sacrilege but I’m working on a project that might give other people an alternatives use of engines that is more affordable and available. I know there are some of you that may not like this idea but I want to hear from everyone on this one please.

    Thanks,
    In advance

If you've got the talent to pull off those swaps, I'd highly suggest going with the 2.5 or better yet the 3.0 Duratec motors. I've seen guys with Contours putting down 430 hp @ whp. The SHO seems to really be lacking in terms of good aftermarket support, and while the Duratec doesn't have much more support it is a stout enough motor that you can use factory internals, and just use other OEM parts as necessary.

Just remember one thing...turbocharge the snot out of it!

A friend has a Mondeo (contour to you guys) with the 2.5 duratec and it goes well. Stock spec is similar to a 7A with 170hp, but it has a lot more torque and mid range. With a decat, manifold, and full system it jumped to 208hp 195lb/ft. Would take a lot more work to get that out of a 7A. 3.0 engines are cheap to buy too, and there is plenty of factory bits from the SVT, ST24, and ST200 models to spice it up with. Cheap power.

Hes looked into turbos as theres plenty of kits for them, even supercharger kits. I'm told the stock internals are plenty strong and can handle over 300hp no problems. No doubt its a nice engine, and the noise

Would be an interesting project, i'd rather find an old 4wd mondeo/contour and stick the v6 in that, make a Ford 90 Quattro in effect, then build a turbo 5 Audi engine
