oil temp switch / sender

if the oil temp gauge is not working in the Audi S2 3 gauge pod does anyone know which part i need to replace. I have been told it might be either 035 919 561 or 034 919 369 C the latter might be water temp though. can anyone help?

Might be an electrical problem as in wires, not the components at each end

Mine was a bit dodgy for a while, turned out to be a poor connection on the back of the gauge
