    Acceleration Problems... Help Please

    Hey Folks.

I was driving home this evening and discovered a problem.
I put my foot to the floor in 6th, and it started doing this jerky accelerating thing...
I tried in other gears and it was the same.
It seemed to get worse, to the point that I couldn't pull away from traffic lights too fast, or it's start jerking (in a periodic fashion, quite violently)...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

      Thanks BRY.

I'll have a search. But didn't I read somewhere that overboost only occurs in 5th and 6th gears?

ok... So previous posts seem to say:

          1: check for boost leaks
          2: clean the MAF sensor
          3: replace the WGFV
          4: check wastegete diaphragm

Is this the advisable order to carry things out?
Can I please have instructions on how to carry these tasks out?

          Thanks folks!!

Overboost protection is what I should have told you to search for, sorry.
You will have a loose pipe to your wastegate or your wastegate diaphram will be wasted.
A pressure check on the system will find this straight away.
Search for pressure check / testing

              Thanks BRY!

              Will search.

Will this problem show itself in the fault codes in VAG COM ?

ok, so there seems to be loads of threads talking about pressure testing, but I can't find any that actually tell me how to do it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
                Pictures would be good too...!

                Thanks,

You might just have a dirty MAF connection.

Try disconnecting the MAF and cleaning the contacts.

sounds similar to a problem I had - cured by cleaning the MAF. Worth a try - search the form for 'MAF cleaning' - there's a post with a walkthrough with pictures. HTH

I found the MAF Cleaning thread. Wonderful description with good pics.

What i'm not sure about is the pressure test. I'm not sure of the procedure.

                        Is it:
disconnect hose from MAF, bung the hose but attach the air compressor on this end...?

                        Thanks,

Why can't I upload pics? Just sends me to a blank screen and says 'done' in the bottom left corner.

I've taken the MAF out, and it looks pretty sparkley clean. Don't want to waste my IPA, so would like oppinions as to whether it's actually clean, or just looks clean to me...

                            Here goes.

Does this part really require cleaning?

                            Thanks...

I think it looks quite clean, it wouldn't hurt though.
