    Small hiccup!!!

    Hi guys,

Something has beenhappening recently that is quite worrying really

Sometimes and only sometimes when I change gear the car dies

Happened again this morning when heading quite briskly towards a roundabout on the way home. Not fun I think you can imagine.

I have checked the battery terminals and they are fine, I have checked the earth side of the connections and all seem fine. I haven't got round to the earth on the engine yet or anything like that but they shouldn't be the problem (I know it won't run without the engine being earthed).

Also at the same time the CD palyer resets itself and the dash blanks??

Any ideas or has anyone BTDT?

    Cheers

Sounds like a complete brief power cut if the CD is resetting itself. I am assuming this is your new 3B engine transplant? I would go and check the major power connections and fuse box etc.

What else happens at the same time. Is it a particularly bumpy road or anything that could be knocking a connection / component about briefly?

    Cheers,

Can't really think what it could be. It doesn't matter if the road is bumpy or not. It just seems to happen when I depress the clutch. As soon as the bite is gone the engine dies????? I have had a look around the fuse box and everything looks fine.

      Cheers

Wiggle the key in your ignition switch, i had a dodgy one on mine that would kill all power if it turned slightly anti-clockwise with the engine running. It got so bad the weight of the keyring was knocking it off when i hit large bumps.

I cant think what else it would be, if it was a problem with something on the engine loom i would expect the ignition to stay on and just the engine to die. When i had the above problem i would lose all power, no dash lights or anything until i switched off/on again.

AHHHH! sounds more like it that does. Although the lights on the dash go off and then straight back on into startup as the ignition is on. I will have to go for a drive with just the key and no other keys on the ring.

            Cheers matey.
