NM cams install in early AAN engine

Hi! I tried to install NM (2.0 20V) in my early <91 AAN engine last weekend. The problem is , that this engine doesn't come with the ABY-like hall sensor near the cam pulley, but the sender sits near the intake cam end and driven by intake cam gear. As I took apart both AAN in and NM in cams - You can see that the gears differs - NM has wider teeth so there is no way to put NM because the cam & sensor gears doesn't stick together.
This thread tells something but in different way - making 7A sender to AAN sender

So I'm thinking if it's possible to take 7A or NM distributor and take of the hall sender gear and change the gear on the AAN sender in combination with NM cam ? Will it work right?
    Some pics here:

The NM looks the same as a 7A cam, so even just one of the bass gear wheels for a 7A on your sender should work. I can only assume the finer gear teeth on your car was done to tighten it up, make the timing more accurate if you like.

I would try to use distributor from 7A engine instead of AAN one. I don't know if it's ok for the motronic ECU, but I don't see any reason why it should not work.

Take the hall sender from the AAN dizzy and assemble it into the 7a version

Here's the brass gear i bought on ebay from my 7A, i would assume the shaft is the same dimensions so that gear may fit onto your sensor.

If I’m not mistaken the round disk in the middle of the distributor is the sensor on a 7A, should be possible to wire it in?

Yeah you need to dissassemble the dizzy, the hall sender is the round disc (it is the window that the sender sees) and the plug on the side of the dizzy, it comes as a unit.

Corey, can you be more specific what is the reason of dissassembling ? I've never seen AAN sender internals, but I suppose there should be same single window plate and hall sender in it. Has the AAN "personal" window for all the cylinders like in 10v N/A?
