What Rods to go for.

Hi Guys,

I am currently planning and pricing for the engine in my project.
I am looking at a 3B engine (for ease of going on the gearbox) and plumbing for about 500BHP.

I know I will need to change various parts as not to diasemble the engine!

The list so far.

If anyone can add a prefered company to this then I can source the parts price. I know I have missed the Group buy for rods but hey ho.

Right off we go.

Metal head gasket (vag Parts)
RS2 shells (vag parts)
uprated Rods
Piston heads
Spark plugs
Head rebuild

EM
AAN Inlet manifold
AAN Watermanifold

Right then I am also considering some sort of baffle if the sump to help with oil loss in high speed cornering. Has anyone ever done this before or is it best left well alone?

Just use the RS2 sump baffle and gaskets

i'm sure the ABY has a baffled sump

THe inlet manifold is sorted (when it get remembered!!!!!! you know who you are so I shall say no more )

The EM should be sorted off the net and I am just looking for an AAN water manifold to fit under the IM unless anyone knows if the 3B one fits???

Aaron, if 500hp is your goal i'd seriously consider switching to coilpacks from the ABY/AAN/ADU etc, no sure what the limit is on the 3b ignition but you'll get better results with coilpacks IMO.

S2 bo you know the answer to that I am willing to pay. That is if it fits the 3b head??? I know that the AAN one is different (or so I have been told). Why you got one Bo???

@ Corey. That baffle just needs welding in correct? Is it worth it or should I try to manufacture a dry sump myself????

you can make your 3b into coilpacks .just get aby cam cover loom ecu and coilpacks and robert is your uncle

aby engines are based on 3b with few differences

Gearbox mounting being one of them.

Volcano, remind me what gearbox you have in. It is not the standard CQ one is it? Is it from a 7A engined car?

3b one but not for long 6 speed will go in once i've run the engine in .you can use your normal coupe quattro one .its strong enough from what i've heard
