Anyone know any reports or used this make of rod?
Regards Mark
They are not that well known within Audi circles but they come highly recommended from others.
Javad states that they are safe for 600hp but I cannot say for sure because I have not fitted a set yet.
$485 is an introductory offer which I can reduce to $470 a set if anyone is interested? obviously there will be shipping and VAT on that.
This price will not last though, it will soon revert back to the retail price of $550 for a set of 5.
PM me your postcode for a shipping quote.
Corey do you know the weight of them? and if they are all the same weight as this seems to have been an issue in the SPM group buy.
I dont think so! My Rods are 158mm 23mm pin and the biggest difference between the Lightest and the heaviest Rod is 1,2 gramms! I think that this is very good!
I've been informed that for a set of rods to be within 5g of each other would be about right, and though I haven't weighed them all the SPMs seem to be within about 3g for a set. I understand that when the engine is balanced that'll be sorted.
Still not sure where the SPMs are manufactured btw, but having seen the eagle rods I don't think they are the same. All I do know, is they're proven to in excess of 1,100bhp in some crazy swedish volvo. Personally, I'm very happy with 'em and at £375 inc. VAT+ shipping I don't think that can really be beaten. But these scat ones look like they would be a good bargain, if they're up to quality.
If you see the Scat rods closely they have at the big end a vertical cut! The Swedish and the Eagle ones dont!
Maybe the Eagles and the swedish ones are the same! But the Swedish ones have a bore on the top of the Small end and the eagle ones dont!
I maybe wrote wrong, but I meant the rods are the same. Just the "last" machining is done in different place. First the rods are made in China or somewhere and then sent to US for the last machining. The "look"-quality may differ between sellers(/"makers"), but the strenght is about the same.
This is the info I've heard. So please don't kill me if thats wrong
I'm thinking of ordering a set of scat rods. A guy is buying one transmission from me, but he is bit of slow. So I'm "praying" that I get the money fast and can get me a set or two.
ok, question askd and the info we got was "the SCAT rods are a matched set and are balanced end to end and their weight is around (I do not know the exact figure) 600g."
