    Standard Internals, How Tough???

I'm fairly new to the scene having bought an S2 in June last year, the spec was 1992, 3B, RS2 front bumper, Milltek cat-back in brilliant black, had it five weeks and some idiot went into the back of me while I was sitting at the back of a line of traffic. Doing approx. 50 and not looking when he hit me, wrote it off! He had no insurance and gave me a dodgy name.

Luckily it was his dads car and they traced the plate. With that off my chest

My insurance has just paid me out a couple of months back and after alot of banter about the value Here I am a proud owner of a 1995 ABY Volcano Black S2. I'll be having an injury payout shortly. I already have a Forge re-circ. BOV, Quikshift filter and a powerflow exhaust on order. The next thing I want to do is change the charger and get a remap or even go for a whole new management.

How far can you go on stock internals, MAF, injectors and pump without bringing the engine to its knees over the next 10.000miles???

    Soz for the big intro!

Hi, welcome to the forum, if you do a search you will find lots of relevant info.
As a quick guide tho, standard injectors are good for i believe about 320bhp, altho the standard turbo might only just scrape 300bhp.

THe most common and wallet friendly is the RS2 setup with remap which is good for 360-400bhp depending on how aggresive you want it mapped.

Bottom end is good for about 600nm in torque before you get banana's or worse, if you want bigger power there are several sources for rods now. Also do a search for 2 turbos, 2871 and 3071

I would also consider not going for a powerflow exhaust and investigate having a longlife exhaust, longer lasting and your less likely too have hassle than with a powerflow system also Longlife can do a new downpipe.

You'd need to uprate the fuel pump, bosch 044 is a common one, and also look at either an RS2 intercooler or an aftermaket one off ebay.

There's plenty of topics that cover this conversion such as this one by MartinJS did the original converion

On ABY injectors and Pump with RS2 turbo and RS2 exhaust manifold your looking around the 320 mark.

Uprate the fuel pump, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler, 2.75 or 3" exhaust your looking in the range of 350-380 bhp.

Also consider the Garrett 2871R and 3071R turbos with K26 hotsides for 400+ bhp but then your looking at uprated Rods and maybe pistons.

All depends on what your budget is.

What was your engine spec in the 3B? I've been offered it but the guy reckons it's been chipped, however, he has no proof

Yep, steer clear of Powerflow and spend the money and get a custom made one from Longlife. Then invest in the Porsche brake upgrade, then sharpen up the chassis with ARB's, koni/bill's etc. Then , when your happy, go for the engine tweeks. This is a far better route IMO and you will end up with a quick and sort of nimble S2

This one already came with 996 stoppers, what a diference, I know how poor the standard brakes are from way back with my ex.

What sort of price range am i looking at for a longlife custom for turbo back or cat back in stainless? Are they a fit while u wait?

Are gearbox or diff. failures heard of when running big bhp?

BRY you've been offered my old car??? how can you be sure it was mine? If you have be weary as it is a CATEGORY B write off and shouldn't be back on the road! If you have it and are breaking it for parts. Maybe we can come to some sort of arrangement. As far as I know it wasn't chipped but it did seem alot faster than the one I currently own although my new one has a b**st*d of a boost leak when it gets hot. It had a k&n panel filter and milltek zorst the rest was apparently standard.

                    I run 1.8 bar boost @ 450 BHP/500Nm with a Garrett GT30R turbo.
                    On standard engine. Never opened.
                    Done 40000 km now.
                    No problems.

450BHP/500Nm - Do you give it stick very often?? Hows the gearbox coping?? - I've got a terrible crunch from first to second and mines only standard. The one I had previous used to do the same as well.
