Anyone with code for AAN ecu s4/s6

OK, i bought a 93 urs4 s6. Car is driving fine. I am a little confused about the overboost mode the car has. Some of the time it will run 0.8 bar boost and go ok and other time it will run 1-1.1 bar eg overboost and hauls ***. It is the valiability of the overboost that pisses me off.

Now i plan on fitting a GT28 71 turbo etc at some point(A year away as i still have my 20v URQ project taking money) and tunning to 350bhp. In the mean time i would like to have a bit extra omf from the big girl.

The easiest thing is to put a boost controler in the wastgate line and set boost to 1.25 bar. But this would defeat some of the ECU's protection. So i would much rather have some code for the ecu that would do this. I have a eprom blower so all i would need is some code.
Is it the same code as the Aby ecu?s
    Are the ecus interchangeable?
What Chip is in there, havent looked yet.
    Where even is the ecu?

Anyone then that has some code that they no has no nasty side affects they could email me?

Dont want to pay £££ for a setup now, only to have to repay when i change turbo and injectors.

    Yes i know im a tight ***.

    Thanks,des.

First off are you looking at boost figures on the stock digi gauge??? If you are, then you should see around 1.8 to 2.0 bar which is about right 2.0 bar being overboost mode which tails off as the revs rise. the stock gauge isn't all that accurate mind you

the ecu location is under the carpet in the passenger footwell underneath a plastic cover. can't help with the code

Thanks for the info. Yes just using the stock dig gauge at moment. I will fit my wideband o2 data logging kit eventually to log boost rpm, and lambda. Boost measured is 1.8 on dig gauge and 2 in overboost so is about right.

Thats what our S4 gives us 1.8 to 2 bar, max with overboost i have seen is 2.1bar. It only seems to do it a few times and then back off, i assume its a heat issue as the S4 has a tiny little IC.

          1. Code is different due to different intake manifold, car gearing and weight.
          2. Yes they are
          3. There are two chips inside one for boost, second is for ignition. 27C512 and 27C256
          4. It's on the passenger side:
          http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modul...rticle&sid=131
          5. I have some strange code which should be what you say. If you want to be guinea pig, I can give you it. No warranties etc, I don't have ability to test it, it may be just stock code with no mods . I strongly recommend to put wideband BEFORE you try it, because there is badly programed one floating in the ebay. Symphtoms is leaning on high boost.

nice damp cold air will also give a touch more boost as the air is denser and cooler, also depends on altitude as well, MRc stage 2 is nice affordable upgrade and yet get a 3.0 bar vmap as well so if you are looking to do bigger and better things with your car then you already have an essential bit of kit.

If you want a plug and play upgrade i would talk to Paul about a home fry, arent you in the local area? For a proper full on remap i would talk to MRC. Dodgy ebay chips on the other hand i wouldn’t touch with yours.

Just a wee update. Fitted the wideband lambda kit to see how things were standard. At cruse the lamba stays very close to 1 eg 0.9-1.05 eg 14-15:1 as expected. At WOT the mix is arround 12:1 at full boost. It does float arround a little as low as 11:1, and as high as 12.5:1, this is on stock aan ecu.

I fitted an after maket boost controler to see what would happen. I get boost cutout at 1.3 bar+. If i set the controler to 1-1.2 bar all is fine. The lambda was still OK eg 11.5-12:1 at these levels. I heard no knock, but to be safe i dosed the fuel with Toulean and xylean. With the car setup like this it basicly runs in overboost mode all the time. Yes i know its not "safe" as the ecu cant pull back boost, but its my engine and i like fiddling.

One thing i noticed is the car seems to deliver its power in a stepped way. Eg the power comes in steps or waves. Its not a smooth delivery of power. If i look at boost and says is 1.1 bar the car goes ok. Then sometimes with the same boost you can feel a exta kick and the car picks up harded. Is this normal? There are no error codes and the car drives fine. I was thinking the ecu may be retarding the timing if i have a funny knock sensor. Any way of telling? eg reading blocks with vag com?

The car does this without the boost controler, but only when it is in overboost mode. Eg the car feels like its going in and out of overboost mode but the boost stays the same. The fueling is fine when it does this too, thats why im thinking the ecu is retarding timming.

                        Thoughts please.

hi mate. gud to see sum1 else has a s4 as well. 1st things 1st, the stock guage dnt beleev it its never right. if uve got a boost guage connect it where the diverter valve vacum is and check ur boost.max shud be 1 bar. the way ur describing the power delivery it sounds like u got a boost leak. check ur michelin man pipe very well known to have blown in between where the rings are. high pressure end to the cross member is known to be lose. check all these pipes and change all ur jubilee clips regardless.. i had this issue years ago.

I have preasure tested the system and it all seems fine. I was useing a preasure transducer on my data logging kit so preasures are accurate. Any other suggestions???
