New sensor still got code, what now??

i have replaced what i thought was a failing engine speed sensor (G28) on my S6
but it's still throwing me the code, intermittant signal, car is even now
starting to cut out on me, not at speed but slow stuff like pulling in the
drive or coming up to a junction, any further ideas on why this should be??

I know this one runs off the flywheel teeth, am pretty sure i don't have a
damaged flywheel (like missing teeth)as the car starts fine, had a recent
clutch done but the car has always thrown this code ever since i first got it 5
months ago. Bentley doesn't seem to show any sort of gap adjustment on this
like abs sensors for instance. Where to look next??? I am stumped

    Thanks

    Iain

Could it be the engine speed sensor on the camshaft? Did mine recently but it started with other symptoms. Mine used to refuse to start!

I'd be tempted to ignore the engine speed sensor and look elsewhere. That code will always show up when the engine isn't running but even when it is running, I believe they've been known to show up on a diagnostic check! Mine does sometimes!! I chased a similar problem around a year or so ago and I too replaced that sensor but it didn't solve the problem. I eventually traced it to an air leak.

Does it happen at slow speeds when the clutch in down and no accel pedal?

Is your car standard? Does it happen from high revs, but if you plip the throttle as revs drop below idle you can sometimes catch it?

Happens only at low engine speeds, on and off load will cut out at idle now and again.

Very intermittent geting "00513 inplusable singnal g28 intermittent"

Cleand the g28 with some IPA this improved things slightly but could have been coincidence.

Only other code is the good old "00561 mixture adaptation not reached intermittent".

Car is standard ABY with AMD chip.

                  cheers

I'd also clean the idle valve as if your pulling in to your drive etc at low speeds dip the clutch it might not be able to catch the revs as it goes down as i've seen that on a couple of cars. Worth a go anyways.

561 could also be the MAF.and the MAF is known to create poor idle problems.Im having the same 561 code now,and only appears when the car is hot.Im pretty sure the maf is out.

Don't think its idle valve related as it happens mainly at part throttle more so when under load.

Only very occasionally at idle but ill give the valve a clean anyway

Think I'm going to replace the Maf as 00561 won't go away even after a few maf baths.
And unless anybody has a better suggestion a new g28 as well.

Any body got the part number for g28.

                          cheers
