a question about the cooling system

Ok i've had a look on s2 central but i got a bit confused (easily done)

my problem is that my cooling fan never kicks in (im sure it did at one point) To test the fan, can i should out the sender at the bottom of the main rad? Will this initiate the fan? If not, i take it that i need to short the smaller one on the water manifold. But, after the engine is shut down, and the electric TCP is running, should the fan run too at that point? Just need to test out the fan really and find the suspect sender and/or relay. Ive checked the fused and thats all ok, and im pretty sure the TCP pump works coz i replaced it only a couple of months ago and i think the water level rised enough in the expansion tank to prove this

    cheers in advance.

yes shorting the wires on the sender at the bottom of the rad should make the fans kick in, not sure what the 2pin one on the manifold does,

superb, that is a great help!! I tried shorting out the sensor on the bottom of the rad to see if the fan came on but i heard a clicking and nothing happened. I think it may well be the actual fan that has broken. Doesnt look like an easy job to replace!! doh

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack, but i'm very much enjoying the diagram at the top of this page. I assume it applies to S2s?
But where does my Aux. Rad fit in? And where under my bonnet is my 'Heat Exchanger'?

                Thanks!

No disrepect but you've had this explained where the aux rad is in your own thread

The heater exchange is called the heater matrix on the S2 and is behind the dash, a bitch to change.

You can see the matrix inlet and outlets in the middle of the bulkhead under the bonnet

Yeah, I know where my Aux. Rad. is physically located under my bonnet, but in terms of the above mentioned diagram, where is the Aux. Rad. plumbed in?

                    Thanks,

It doesn't, as the diagram you mention from above is for the AAN engine in the S4/S6. and that doesn't have an aux rad. It didn't need one as the S4/S6 has loads more room around the engine bay and was able to have a huge rad in the normal position in front of the engine.

If you look it's 'T'ed off of the main rad's top and bottom hoses.
