Yeah I understand that part, therefore from the diagram you provided me back from the fuel filter I need 21 and 2A (not 2) and past the filter I need 20 and 21 (same one), but my point is that is still only two lines which part is the 3rd line I can see, JPL said it may be a line for a tank vent is that listed?

sorry about this just didn't seem to explain myself properly.

    many thanks

Sorry mate can't help you anymore than the pics i've posted, think you'll need to phone Vagparts or PM S2Avant as i can't see an extra fuel line nor heard of one.

The question I have is am I better to replace all 3 lines with standard audi pipes and.
                  • What is the cost
                  • What are the part numbers
                  • are they on back order?

Im booked for the track and coombe and it looks unlikely I can make it now if I cant get this sorted in time.

Or am i better to make copper lines to fit in their position instead?

Finally how much of the lines must be replaced when changing them since I havent been able to check where they join into different components yet.

                  thanks

I very recently replaced all my fuel lines for my cars MOT Greg....

I didnt even bother for OEM as the stealer was quoting some crazy prices for the amounts i wanted to do...so I went to my local bullseye motor factors place...and bought a 4 or 5 different lengths of fuel line.....and a load of joiner pieces...(small cylinders that you slide both tubes on and then use the supplied hose clamps to secure

Iirc the ID thickness was 6mm AND 8mm (I only got one piece of 6mm ID as only one to replace)
Nearly all the fuel lines on the car were 8mm ID so I just used the new fuel hose as a direct replacement and used a joiner for really long routings if my hose wasnt long enough.

The only slight bummer was that the clip things that hold all the lines needed pushing quite hard to close them with the new thicker fuel lines so I just tie wrapped each one as an extra measure for neatness and safety

ps// are they metal pipes on your car?? OEM?

I'd have to check if they are metal or not. I went to the stealers yesterday and got some part numbers from them which were:
                      • 896 201 547 H Fuel line return
                      • 896 201 545 G Fuel Line Feed
                      • 896 201 991 R Breather

Worked out at £181.04 inc VAT, however they are all on back order. Gonna try vagparts, ECP & GSF tomorrow to see if they can help. I'd prefer to put OEM pipes back on if possible.

                        Ahh..
yes. That could have been another reason I took an alternative route...dreaded back order

OEM is slightly easier...but at the end of the day. Fuel pipes are fuel pipes....

This is very true, just thought it would save the hassle of having to fabricate parts if I can source OEM ones

got a few problems today, I have installed the new fuel lines however there is no way you could fit them in one piece without removing the exhaust, gearbox, engine, driveshafts and prop so I cut them in 1/2 to do it.

Now the car wont start with them fitted and I wanted to double check i have the return and breather connected the right way around.

Can anyone tell me which of the 3 pipes from the tank is for which?
