    170k ?

just bought s2... v good condition, still on original turbo, all works sweet, geting taping noise but read ur reply's so know how to sort that out now.

    question :

will my 174k engine fall apart if i attempt to pump 300hp to it?

Dont wanna sell it, what best thing i should do?

    a ) not worry
b ) rebuild engine (3 grand or summit)
c ) sell and buy less milage
d ) buy less milage engine and fit

am i crazy of thinking of tuning a 170k engine or are these engines REALLY bulletproof?

Ski, no one can tell how long an engine can last expecially without knowing exactly how the engine has been used (or abused) and if miles on the clock are actually real.

If car has had carefull owners (which desn't mean they have used the car at "turtle speeds") those engines can run happily hundreds of thousands miles.
Have heard of some 250K miles engines still healty.

In my opinion, if engine doesn't have worring oil consumptions, too low compression ratios, strange noises or whatever, tuning would not be a problem.

      thanks Marco..

well this engine is in sweet condition as 150k of it was owned by some millionair with some £250,000 number plate on it.. now that i own it (broke tramp with addiction to speed) i gonna covert it into a monster

The old fart millionair looked after it well and the only prob i have wiht the engine is over heating and tapet noises but i read ur posts and gonna sort that out at next pay day. (oil change n new radiator/thurmostat)

wow this forum feels like family so many s2 owners in 1 place

never EVER seen a tuned s2 with my own eyes in real life and cant wait for a event to see these monster s2's pple have here!

one last question, i got the 6 speed s2, does that have a pollen filter? coz i took it to audi dealer for a full 80k service and they only changed oil, air filter, and plugs when i asked them why im paying like £100 more they said "coz we check a lot more things" so now im left with a car which hasnt been PROPERLY serviced in ages and wondering where to start to "unblock it". polen filer? running gear service? anything pple recommend doing to restore this beuti to its natural form? is kim colins the best service centre for s2's around? not herd of any other s2 mechinics. NEED HELP with this complicated turbo mofo!

*reads what he just wrote* erm i went off on one *hides in shame*

Ski, don't worry about normal services. If you are even only a minimum mechanically minded and don't mind getting your hands dirty there are a lot of things you can do yourself just well as any professional mechanic will.

If you have unsolved questions, doubts or need infos "how to", just ask. Somebody here will certainly answer.

I belive this forum hosts really many people with enaugh knowledge to solve and/or address to the solving of any problem on our cars.
You can already find a great number of usefull and interesting threads here, so, if I might suggest, take some time to look around.

          Ciao

I agree with marco regarding mileage, it all depends if its been looked after, i'd personally rather buy a car thats done a higher mileage but with loads of history etc than a car with half the mileage but with no history.
mines done 197k, RS2 bits just fitted, at the next tuning session should be 320-330bhp, bring it on
            uses no oil!
do pretty much all the servicing myself, id never take it to a dealer,
a problem has arisen today though, fuel pump/filter i think but thats another story:wacked:
