    Slipping fanbelt

So, how do I stop my stupid fanbelt from squeaking?

    Thanks,

    Hi John,
If it's definately a drive belt (alternator or Power steering?) then it's too worn and/or not set at the correct tension.
Best off just replacing it (or both) with a new one, to the correct tension.

Just a few quid each for the belts if you do it yourself.
Not sure for definate what a garage would charge, not much though. I'd imagine about an hours labour, plus parts.

So, I just asked Audi for a timing belt quote...

"When we change the timing belt, we usually change the other 2 belts too, and tensioners etc.... That'll cost you £180 parts, plus 2.5 hours' labour... that'll be £330 all together"

            ouch!
Think i'll just leave it for just now. Is it a hard job to do on my own?
