    Checking Cambelt?

    Hi all

I going to check my cambelt as it looks like it is slightly rubbing against some metal sticking out from the engine. Luckily the metal is flat but its making a annoying sound and obviously its better being safe than sorry, so i need to check it.

Just a quick question, to take the cover off I obviously need to remove the power steering belt. I tried moving the powersteering unit to the lowest position but the belt still would not come off. What is the easiest way to remove this belt?

    Thanks
    Ian

Slacken the adjuster like you have....then undo the two bolts that form a pivot fastening at the top of the pump (dont drop the inner one!)
Now you can wriggle the pump up and out of its gap and rest it somewhere in the engine bay...

Something is very wrong if you find your cambelt is catching on anything.
      Sort it quickly!
