    Afterrun, it works!

Well in 2 years of ownership i've never heard the afterrun kick in the rad fan and i'm proud to say (saving my time and money changing the sensor) that at GTI it kicked in!

I naughtly booted up the private runway just after you enter GTI hitting over 100 and then parked up with the forum guys on sunday.

got out the car and the girlfriend goes "whys your car started making that noise?"

Que me jumping up and down in delight running for the bonnet release just to catch a glimpse of the rad fan running after the engine was switched off!

It's the small things in life that gives you pleasure.

Must say thanks to MikeS2 for the relay i dont know if it's a coincidence that it's work since i placed that realy in the fuse box?

Me too – one of the first things I noticed on the S2 was the lack of after-run fan operation. Never heard it operate yet after I’ve switched the ignition off. It kicked in regularly on the cq20v, usually every time I got home from work, it would leap into life just after I’d parked up. Took me a bit of time to get used to it, and my bro was convinced it was something wrong (what does he knows he drives a Shogun Warrior !) but it was re-assuring!

On the S2 even on occasions when the fan has kicked in, say because the engine was running a little warm after the usual evening traffic, so the temp is a little over 90 at the time, it cuts out as soon as turn off the ignition and doesn’t seem to return on after run, least Ive never heard it. Been assured this is normal but I would feel happier with a little more fan action to guard against heat soak!

In it’s place aII get is the weird squawking and screeching noises that intermittently come from the Toad alarm which seems stuck on “tourettes ” mode!! Makes it sound like a ice cream van with a dodgy p.a system!!! :

Ben came up with the best solution to this some time ago, do it and you no longer have to wait for your engine to go into meltdown before the after run pump and fan kicks in.
