You have to move the PAS pump to get too it, i didn't disconnect the pump i simply took the PAS belt off, unbolted the pump and moved it too one side.

Get some samco or SFS hose too replace it, the standard audi stuff isn't up for the job.

You might as well do the thermostat hose whilst at it if it hasn't been changed.

The pipe is in the top left of the pice behind the black hose and pump

You can just make out the jubilee clip.

No with the PAS pump moved you have clear access, the pic above is from the side with the main Rad removed so it's not the same access view

Hi - I (meaning Jas11n ) have just replaced the turbo water cooling pipe on my 3B details & pics Here.

I had exactly the same problem - water jetting out under pressure and couldnt see exactly where from because it was behind the power steering pump and somewhere under the top front area of the intake manifold.

Turned out it wasnt the usual culprit of the small stat pipe, but the turbo cooling feed which is very close and nearer the front. Theres a metal hard pipe it joins that goes off around the front of the engine to the turbo. Almost sits above the thermostat housing. As a result this is actually much easier to get at than the other pipe and access is realtively easy with the power steering pump moved out the way, yet stil connected, as Jamo says. Certainly no need imho to move the radiator. Whilst We were in there the stat was changed and this is a lot easier if you disconnect the bottom radiator hose from the metal pipe that sits over the stat. You can also pull the plastic shielding back beyond the end of this pipe towards the passenger wing once the raditior feed pipe is off which greatly increases access to the stat.

Only problem was as I originally I thought it was the stat pipe, I had got the wrong pipe as a result - so if you're ordering it might be worth getting both as a precaution, they arent much, in case its one and not the other! I managed to utilise a bit of spare hose and its been fine ever since
