Help me please, engine misfiring problem

    hey guys,

just bought a 1992 Audi S2, hehe and loving it, i got a bit silly and cleaned it and polished it then decided to clean the motor, sprayed it all down with caned Degreaser, hosed it of with just a normal hose, drove it back into the garage and it was running on four cylenders, parked it up for the night, and then tryed to start it again in the morning and no go, its like it wants to fire but it doesnt, put new plugs in it, blew out water in electrical plugs and tried again, no luck, tow started it, backfired, then ran again, really ruff, and once again on 4 cylenders!! i have tried everything and no luck,

    theres no blowen fuses,

where else would water sit or what could it have blowen?

    Please help me on this

i want my baby to go again

    Thanks

    Sam

Have you been and checked ALL the eletrical plugs? There are loads.

Have you thouroughly checked all the ignition system including the distributor cap and plug leads etc...?

    Cheers,

If you haven't already removed the distributor cap and checked for water, you're going to have to check that for sure. It's a pig to get at too! Follow the plug leads to the underside of the inlet manifold....good luck!

        Hello

I had similar problem, after checking all the things you have. I reassembled my airflow meter, and found it a bit moisty. So dried it with heater, assemled again. And then the engine spun as usual...

i followed the cleaning sequence as outlined on the forum where u use engine degreaser, followed by hosing off, then vynl/rubber protector dried off by running engine with bonnet(hood) down to dry everything. it worked a treat, it produced a very clean and sparkling engine bay, but reduced me to 4 cylinderso : . on both occasions it was moisture down the 5th sparkplug bore that was the culprit .

cleaned up all 5 plugs, cleaned surfaces that the spark plug washers contacts and sprayed contact cleaner (not wd40) on coilpack contacts and it fired up like a dream, and ran very smooth.
