    Ross Racig Pistons

A local VW/Audi guru has recommended Ross Racing pistons to me. He has priced them at $600 for the set!!!
That is a great deal! JE Pistons are $1200 and factory are $1300 if bought at dealer cost ($2400 at retail).
Has anyone heard anything good/bad about Ross pistons? I think they are more popular in the U.S.
I believe they are well respected and my local guy has used them for racing and standard applications for years.
    Here's hoping...

    Wow :eek2:

    thats a great price.
Wold be wise to look for some feedback, better if coming from people with high performance turbocharged engines and/or blown engines (in the 220-250 Hp per liter range, at least).

Good advice, will follow. I think they may have limited exposure to 250 Hp/liter though. A lot of their work is American Muscle cars with 100Hp/liter (of course with 6 or 7 liters...)

If you find out some interesting new please share it with us. Could be a nice option of performance pistons for many of us.

There new website is up. Check it out:

ROSS RACING PISTONSCustom and off the shelf forged pistons, trusted by some of the fastest racers in the world.ROSS RACING PISTONSCustom and off the shelf forged pistons, trusted by some of the fastest racers in the world. CUSTOM & OFF THE SHELF FORGED

There machining and installation instructions are very detailed but easy to understand.

I have researched the web and have found NO complaints about Ross pistons. They generally categorize them as "high-quality" and equate them to the JE Pistons. The Ross pistons are half the price...

            More info coming!

This sounds good espacially because i removed my original pistons today

And was thinkin about other pistons with rods, and if these ones are also as light as the JE- ones these might be an option in combination with carillos.

              I`m waiting for more info

              Cheers

                  Well i`m very intereressted in HP-L ratio, like 250HP / L.

Hopefully they can handle a bit more, so i`m playing it safe.

                  Cheers

                    Mmm these do look interesting.
Havent had a proper look around their site yet, but these pin oilers are new to me, do any other pistons have these standard or otherwise .
Might be a good feature to go for if using a rod like the Carrillo which does'nt come with the rifle drilling as standard (cost option).
                    More info eagerly awaited.

                    Cheers,

                    Mark.

Just answered my own question, just looked on the JE pistons site, they do too. Good idea that.

                          Dunno mate,
the only S2 piston I've held was that one Steve had attached to his curly con rod at your place the other week .

                          Cheers,

Sorry for the delay, I haven't got to the shop yet. I have to take a pistom to have the shop send it to Ross. The shop closes at 5pm and I have to slide out of work early to get there (45 minute drive).

I will also talk to him about an S2 group buy or discount. He is a Ross pistom dealer and I think he will go for it. Why sell 5 pistons when he could sell 15-20 now and more in the future?

                              Mark,

I've been looking at the standard Audi pistons over the past couple of days. It would be easy to add a drilling to them to supply oil to the wrist pin. Another thing I've noticed is that out of the four sets of pistons I've seen, all are manufactured by Karl Schmidt and not Mahle. If you'd like one to experiment with, give me a shout.
