Count me in a set of 8.5 pistons. Do we all have to order the same cr? I will have my head back from the machine shop in about 2-3 weeks, what is the turnaround time on the ross pistons? Do they make conrods, or does your buddy have any deals with conrod venders?
    Thanks
    Hans

Hmmm, is the stock CR 8.5:1? I was going for a stock piston configuration.

I just checked their website. We should jointly get this info together and submit it to them.

As I mentioned, I will be sending them one of my pistons for a model.

Anyone know the head pocket volume?

The lead time is 5-6 weeks.

I have inquired about conrods, he is checking...

No, stock is not that low, its around 9.0-9.3 depending on the gasgets. I want to be running a little lower so i can push more boost. I might have to go it on my own. Let me know what kind of information you get back from them. I might have them make my pistons too.
          Thanks

I just checked with my local guy. He is not making squat at selling the pistons for $600/set. He is just supplying the pistons to do the machine work in his shop.
He is going to contact Ross and see if they will drop the price if we get 15 or more made at one time.
Custom CR's will not be a problem since he said they just move the pin hole.
            So, let's get this together...

            1. Bore Size - 81.5mm

            2. Crankshaft Stroke

            3. Rod Length

            4. Engine Type - 5 cylinder turbo

            5. Head Type - dual OH cam

            6. Head CC

            7. Amount heads have been milled - will vary with order

            8. Valve Diameters

            9. Intake valve location when on the seat as compared to the surface of the head (flush, amount recessed, or amount proud).

            10. Camshaft lift at split overlap when piston is at T.D.C.

            11. Type of Racing

            12. Type of fuel to be used

            13. Will Nitrous or Forced Induction be used, and in what amount

            14. Type of rings you plan to use

            15. Type of pins you wish to buy, or if you wish to use your own pins, you must tell us the diameter and length of your pins

            16. Options that you wish to add (Lock Removal Indents, Internal Milling, etc.)

            17. Method of payment (Visa, AMEX, etc.) - N/A, I will deal with shop, not Ross direct.

            18. Method of Shipment - N/A I will handle

            19. Gasket thickness and block height (amount block has been milled.)

            20. Type of rods

There are some question there i just don't have answers for yet. How soon do you plan on placing the order. I need to contact the shop thats doing my head. I gave them full creative lisence to make it a awsome as possible. They may have changed the geometry and size of the valves. I will get back to you with those numbers as soon as possible. Did you man say he might have a lead on rods? Again i will need special treatment, as i am building a stroker.
              Thanks

Yes, he is checking on rods. Right now there are new emmisins laws that were put in place here in Pennsylvania and he is trying to get his equipment for that up and running.
As mentioned, a run of different compression ratios at one time will not make a big difference. All the machining except the pin hole location will be the same.

Will ross be the supplier for the pins? Also, do we need to supply ring specs, or will ross supply rings too?
                  Thanks

What will be the weight of the pistons ? Jeffer told me that JE-ones are allmost half the weight of the original pistons.

And i`m still very interessted, but still wanting to know what the hp/liter capability is. And if these pistons will hold lets say 500hp for about 25.000km ?

                      Cheers
