    High temperatures,are they??

    Hello,
while driving in traffic today,on a hot summer greek day(40degrees celcius),and after a rather small uphill i got these readings from my gauges:
    Engine temperature 90 + 3 lines
    oil temperature:around 120degrees
    Oil pressure:around 1.2bar
After i stopped the car and turned the engine off,the ventilators would all continue working, and very small amounts of smoke where coming off the engine bay.(probably from oil residues outside the engine or flanges).

Im asking this:Is it possible to get it up to so high temperatures without pushing the engine?I mean this is worse than being on the race track i assume!

Engine runs fine,no problems after that, and also engine oil is still sitting at full length.Im using 10W60

also im always getting lower reading from the oil pressure as the temperature rises. When im around 90+2 lines my oil pressure sits just below 2bar.As it starts to heat up it assumes the 1.5bar position and then moves slowly lower when i hit the 90+3 lines mark!!!

Im going to have all temperature senders replaced with lower limits, but after this i think im going to refrain from using the car in the city!damn traffic...

You would mormally see a drop in oil pressure as the temp rises, the 1.2 bar oil pressure was this at idle?? or when the car was being driven, if it's when it's being driven that imo is too low, even with 40 deg outside temps.

is 1,2 bar at idle acceptable? i think Papvas meant at idle.

as i wrote, oil pressure when idle at 90degrees engine temp:1.8-2.0bar
oil pressure at idle when 90+3lines above engine temp:1.2bar

I was driving from Split, Croatia last weekend and it was very hot outside around 38 degrees. There had been a big traffic jam and I was drving at snail pace for about an hour with air con on.

Temperature I read was 90+4 notches! Oil temp went to 120 or slightly above. Outside temp sensor showed up 45 degrees.

At idle i would say the oil pressure is about right for those temps.

vpprelovac, that is good to hear, cause i thought i was the only one with these figures. If what you say is true, then i guess it is normal, until i change all temp senders to lower ones
