engine price

I m thinking of putting a 3b into my gt coupe to go along with the quattro.
How much is a fair price for a reasonable mileage 3b nowadays?
I think i paid too much for the aby!

Hi i was giving some prices recently and they ranged from £600-£800 depending on mileage/age.

I know this isn't a 3b engine but I was quoted £724 for a AAH including post&packing and vat I think it was a £500 engine before all the add on's
Didn't do it in the end as it wasn't checked out or anything just pulled out of a scaped car.

So when looking always ask alot of questions to get a good picture about the condition of it

Bought an AAN with 80k miles for 1k about 4 years back, complete ABY with all bit for doing a conversion i am told should be around £1500. Come to think of it i paid a bit more than that for my ABY with 6speed box etc...

i paid about 1500 quid about 7 yrs back,seems they are about half that nowadays,make sure you get a decent one though,best to do a compression check to make sure all is well,always worth doing headgasket and other awkward jobs before you plonk it in too...

Bringing an old thread alive! How much would you guys reckon an ABY engine alone is worth? say 110k on the clock and another with about 50k on the clock, any ideas?
