    RS2 Intercooler?

If I placed an RS2 intercooler onto a standard S2 would it give any performance gains??
And if so by how much?

    Thanks

    chip it

You would need to chip it to get the full potential out of the intercooler
otherwise not much gain at all

I think it is the way to go. I'm going to make sure I haven't got any boost leaks before I get mine done.

If you did get it chipped and then added for instance a RS2 turbo & inlet maniford would you need to get it chipped again. To get the full potential out of the additional parts?

You are going to see very little gain with an RS2 Intercooler. It is just the start of a long road....

Yes you will need to get it remapped best just waiting till you get all the bits if you are going down the road of RS2 spec

All you would need is a RS2 exhaust manifold RS2 injectors RS2 spec turbo or equivalent and the intercooler of course thats the main parts there is always little bits here and there

Would Samco hoses of off a 3b model fit onto the RS2 turbo or do you need different pipes?

Not sure would need to chat too one of the lads with a 3b thats been upgraded i would say no if the inlet size of the standard k24 is smaller than the inlet of rs2 version

You dont need a remap to see the benifits of an bigger intercooler.

The intercooler is there to reduce intake air temperature, a more effecient intercooler that reduces the temp shows instant benefits and it did on my car when i fitted it.

When you chip /remap the car using higher boost pressure the larger intercooler becomes a manditory requirement as the gasses are hotter due to the extra compression at higher boost levels.

The ABY Samco pipe fits the RS2 turbo, the 3B should not be different as the turbo in the ABY and 3B are both K24.

Jamo is on the right track with this one already, but here's my tuppence worth on the subject.

Yes there will be gains from fitting an RS2 intercooler onto a standard S2 by nature of it getting colder intake air temperatures. Colder air always produces more power...

I would really like to see this quantified one day - it doesn't take long to bolt up an RS2 intercooler to the S2 - all the pipework can be re-used. A quick comparison of air temperatures with VAG-COM would give meaningful before and after results.
