Coil Pack Disintigration - Oil everywhere

I had a misfire, and blue smoke coming out of my exhaust. I found that one of the coil packs was disintigrated, and there was oil everywhere.I will need a new coil pack and expect there is damage to the piston. Any idea what caused this? Any ideas what the cheapest option is for repair, and how much would you expect to pay for this repair. Thanks very much. JohnB.

I should imagine the plug was loose, and blown upwards, smashing the coilpack in the process. Likely the threads in the spark plug hole will be damaged.

It depends if the head has been damaged as well, you will need to take it for a professional opinion and may need to have a timecert fitted into spark plug thread so it is usable again

I have arranged for it to be taken to the local Audi dealer.

The inconvenience is that I am 400 miles away from the car.

I wouldn't take it to Audi mate, they will say you need a new head at 2k plus!

Any good local engineering shop should be able to do that, if you get stuck for coilpacks let me know

Cost me almost £1300 to get mine done end of last year. Still in the process of being sorted.

what Audi Garage did you send it to .........like Jamo said you mostly find that they work on new cars rather than ours and when they see them you end up paying for them to scratch there heads rather than them doing any work...........i found out the hard way when i first bought mine ,thought i was doing the right thing ended up paying them 900 quid for them to fix POS and fit two new hoses and temp sensors as you can imagine i am not doing that again

                      Thanks folks.
Will let you know Iain if I'm stuck for coil packs.

The dealer is Vindis Audi in Cambridge.
Does anyone know of anyone better down that way?

                      Thanks.

Cambridge isn't that far away from Corey in Lincolnshire, i know where i would go, as has been said before audi will charge you at least £100 per hour labour and they won't really want to get involved with repairing the head, you could well be facing a rather large bill if you leave it with them

Well, if anyone could let me know where best to get it fixed i'd really appreciate it!!
There is an audi specialist in Cambridge... best get the work done there?

I've allowed the Audi dealer to spend 2 hours diagnosing the problem... I should hope they find out what's wrong with it in that time!

                          Thanks folks!
