Dump Valve?

Hi all

How do you know if you dump valve is working properly, when driving my car it seems to be letting of the boost pressure all the time and when I let off the throttle the airbox makes a strange sound.

Also if the dump valve is broken would this effect the performance?

If the valve is stuck open then it can act like a boost leak since the compressor is making boost which is being bled straight off again

it does feel like I have got a constant boost leak.

The car also sounds different when putting my foot down and letting off.
